FAD X HOUSE OF MEA: LONDON FASHION WEEK
Celebrating a decade of dedication to global fashion education, FAD International Academy unveiled 8 emerging talents from FAD India at the House of MEA Catwalk Show at Fashion Scout during London Fashion Week SS/18.
House of MEA is a platform to promote & incubate emerging and established talents from across the Middle East & Asia. In its fifth season, House of MEA has unveiled the likes of Rocky Star, Annderstand, Maral Yazarloo, Nivedita Saboo & Felix Bendish in the previous seasons at London Fashion Week.
Textures, Textiles & Tradition - The collection showcased a mellifluous blend of contrasting fabrics, textures and forms projecting India's rich heritage in fashion with a global appeal.
The collective unveiled diverse collections using pure silks, georgettes, leather, tulle, velvet, jute, crisp organza and yarns with contemporarised Indian embroideries and surface ornamentation techniques such as metal work, inverted diamond smocking, gold embroidery using Aari & Zardozi and three dimensional texturing. Fabric manipulation techniques such as heat pressing, perma pleating, distressing & draping were used to create structured to flowy and exaggerated silhouettes.
Designers Manali Khude, Mehak Somjee, Nidhi Jain, Shambhavi Mudgal, Savio Dsouza, Shraddha Katariya, Simran Oswal and Simran Sachdev celebrated India at this debut showing by FAD International Academy.
